If you are one of millions of Americans who owns firearms for sport, competition or for personal defense, I suggest that you use the link and read this House Bill very carefully, then call or write your local Representative and let him/her know exactly what you think of this proposed legislation.
I will have absolutely no luck in that direction because I happen to live in Florida's 22nd Congressional District and that means that my Representative is Democrat Ron (Clown) Klein. As many of you already know, I have joined the campaign to elect LTC. Allen West to that seat, and this is but one of the reasons. You can read about the Allen West Campaign here: http://allenwestforcongress.com/ You can also read a very interesting essay about the comparison between Allen and Michelle Obama here: http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/03/lt_col_allan_west_and_michelle_1.html
Some on the left would not understand why someone like me who spent more than two decades in Law Enforcement would be against this bill because it's intention is to disarm people, but that's precisely why I'm against it. I can tell you, from personal experience, that
you have to take steps to protect yourselves and your families because the Police CANNOT PROTECT YOU. If you've read any of my blogs you've seen the following printed there:
- An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject.
- A gun in the hand is better than a cop on the phone.
- Colt: The original point and click interface.
- Gun control is not about guns; it's about control.
- If guns are outlawed, can we use swords?
- If guns cause crime, then pencils cause misspelled words.
- "Free" men do not ask permission to bear arms.
- If you don't know your rights you don't have any.
- Those who trade liberty for security have neither.
- The United States Constitution (c) 1791. All Rights Reserved.
- What part of "shall not be infringed" do you NOT understand?
- The Second Amendment is in place in case the politicians ignore the others.
- 84,999,987 firearm owners killed no one yesterday.
- Guns only have two enemies: rust and politicians.
- Know guns, know peace, know safety. No guns, no peace, no safety.
- You don't shoot to kill; you shoot to stay alive.
- 911 - government sponsored Dial-a-Prayer.
- Assault is a behavior, not a device.
- Criminals love gun control -- it makes their job safer.
- If guns cause crime, then matches cause arson.
- Only a government that is afraid of its citizens tries to control them.
- You only have the rights you are willing to fight for.
- Enforce the "gun control laws" we ALREADY have, don't make more.
- When you remove the people's right to bear arms, you create slaves.
- The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control.
I highlighted some of them in red because they are, to me, some of the more important aspects of gun freedom. Having spent my law enforcement career in New York State, a state with some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the Country, I can tell you that they do nothing to prevent crime, and for all intents and purposes, they increase crime by making a whole new class of criminal, those who know that government cannot protect them and that they must take steps to protect themselves.
I have charged criminals with violations of New York State's gun laws and I have seen REPEATEDLY, that these charges are the very first charges to "disappear" when plea-bargaining commences. See, the liberals don't want you throwing thier constituancy in jail
for long periods of time so they make the charges go away BUT they use the arrest statistics to tout their logic (flawed as it is) for enacting these restrictions.
No, these kinds of laws have no effect on the criminal element except to make their jobs easier. They won't have to worry about you defending yourself when they come to rape, rob and plunder because the government wants to take away your ability to do so. I even know of a case in New York where an intruder broke into a house. The victim, a woman, had a handgun to defend herself, but she retreated through the house rather than confront the skell who was pursuing her. Finally, in the basement of her own house, she took a stand and shot the intruder. For this, she was arrested, tried and convicted, and the reason given was that the basement had a doorway she could have used to escape her pursuer and she didn't use it. Thankfully, the conviction was overturned on appeal, but if this doesn't send a chill down your spine, nothing will.
DO NOT ALLOW THIS BILL TO BECOME THE LAW OF THE LAND OR PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE CONSEQUENCIAL LOSS OF YOUR FREEDOM.
